A refugee week event and fundraiser for the Hathaleen Kindergarten in Hebron
The Leichhardt Friends of Hebron is hosting a cultural event to highlight the ongoing Palestinian refugee crisis and to raise funds for a much needed kindergarten in the South Hebron Hills.
Centred on the exhibtion of photographs, titled AL KHALIL HEBRON: A city under siege, the Festival of Friendship will feature a vibrant indoor market and cafe, live music, a film, a forum on censorship and presentations from people returning from the West Bank. See below for the programme.
VENUE: Leichhardt Town Hall, cnr Marion and Norton Streets, Leichhardt. Entry by donation.

7 pm: Doors open for opening of photography exhibition: AL KHALIL HEBRON: A city under siege.
7:30 pm Official opening of photography exhibition with, Jamie Parker: Mayor of Leichhardt and
Dr Izzatt Abdul-Hadi: Head of Palestinian Delegation in Australia, Um Yusuf: a Palestinian refugee and proud Australian and Randa Abdel-Fattah, Australian author and human rights advocate. The opening is presented by our gracious MC: Peter Manning.
8:30 pm Live Music until late with Great food & wine available throughout the night

Open all day from 10am: the Photography exhibition AL KHALIL HEBRON: A city under siege
10am Café Society with market stalls, photo exhibition until 2:30pm
12 noon Speakers, presentations, discussion
3:30 pm “Censorship of the Palestinian Story – How does it affect Australian understandings?” a forum with discussion focusing on the closure of the original Friends of Hebron photo exhibition and the censorship of the “Treasures of Palestine” museum exhibition.
5:30 pm Film Premiere: WELCOME TO HEBRON
7:30 pm Live Music ’til Late – dance the night away
